Above image depicts the damaged ridge tile, which will allow water to enter the roof space causing damage.

Also the mortar has cracked and crumbled, due to the impact of the weather.

The ridge of a roof is especially vulnerable to damage by wind driven rain and will often suffer considerable mortar damage over time, resulting in ridge tiles becoming displaced.

A high wind may actually blow the ridge tile off the roof.  This could cause damage to family members or passers by or damage cars etc.

The above image shows the new ridge tile system.

The ridges are fixed into place and therefore, are extremely secure and unlikely to blow off in high winds.

They are also fitted with a tray system which allows any little rain water which enters to flow back onto the roof.

There is no mortar to crack and crumble.

The new ridge system is extremely durable.

It also allows for the natural movement of the building, which the mortar does not.

It also allows for a little ventilation to protect against condensation.

The new ridge systems are extremely durable.

The number of storms battering the UK is on the increase and there is a growing realisation of the unreliability of using mortar to secure areas of the roof such as the verge.

The Dry Verge Tile System has been designed to be a cost effective alternative that avoids all of the long term maintenance problems of mortar bedding.
